Rashtra Shaktibadi Party (RSP) is a political party headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It was founded on 8 June 2026 by a group of students and first-time political organizers who felt that no existing party represented a single, nationwide ideology capable of speaking for the country as a whole. The party was formally constituted on 15 August 2026. Its symbol is the Banyan Tree.

History

Background

Rashtra Shaktibadi Party originated among a group of students who, while studying and observing political developments across India, grew concerned that no existing political party's ideology matched what they believed the country needed. Their assessment was that every established party pursued a narrower form of politics — built around a region, a community, or a particular interest group — rather than a politics of the nation as a whole. The party's founders, most of whom were students at the time, wanted young people to have direct ownership of a political movement rather than a supporting role within parties led by older, established politicians.

National President Jyotiraditya has summarized this founding concern as follows:

"A single ideology cannot decide the fate of 140 crore people. What this country needs is not one person's dream of India — it needs the India that the people of India themselves dream of."

Founding conversation

The idea for the party emerged from a conversation between Reyansh, who became the party's National Chairperson, and Jyotiraditya, who became its National President, at Hotel Niharika in Kolkata. During this conversation, the two arrived at a shared vision: an India that is economically strong, technologically advanced, capable of ensuring its own security, and able to make independent decisions in international affairs. At this stage, Reyansh and Jyotiraditya were the only two people involved in the project; they were responsible for conceiving the party's name, its early recruitment approach, and the plan for how it would be executed. Sanjit, Md Saifullah, and Sk Muquarram joined afterward as members of the National Executive Board, and their contribution to the party has been substantial in building out its ideology, constitution, and executive functions.

On 8 June 2026, at Nandan in Kolkata, the party held its first official meeting, marking its Foundation Day. The first action the party took that day was registering its official website, rashtrashaktibadiparty.in.

Naming

Before settling on its current name, the founders considered several alternative names, reflecting an early focus on building a party led by and for young people rather than the establishment figures who dominate Indian politics. Names considered included:

The name Rashtra Shaktibadi Party was first conceived on 11 March 2026. It was formally adopted as the party's official name at its first official party meeting on 8 June 2026 at Nandan, Kolkata, which the party also recognizes as its Foundation Day.

Vision

The party's stated vision is to build a strong, self-reliant, and prosperous India by empowering its citizens, strengthening public institutions, promoting economic development, and protecting constitutional democracy. It summarizes this as: "Mazboot Rashtra, Saksham Nagarik, Nyayapurn Samaj" — a strong nation, a capable citizenry, a just society.
